Our Story

Why Velvet Muse

We named the brand Velvet Muse for two reasons. Velvet is a feeling—soft, saturated, quietly luxurious. It’s how we want every texture to perform on skin. Muse comes from the Greek goddesses of inspiration: the spirit of art itself. In Greek, it also echoes thought and contemplation—the pause before a great idea. That pause is where our brand began.

We don’t have a dramatic origin myth or a tear-jerker founder tale. No decades in the industry. No tragic twist turned triumph. We began with a question:

Could we make makeup that feels like velvet and treats every face like a work of art—so the product, not the marketing, tells the story?

So we obsessed over color that reads in real life, pans that blend without effort, and packaging that looks like it belongs in a gallery. We want the outside to feel like art, and the moment you wear it to be art. Because when you step into the room, the masterpiece isn’t the palette—it’s you.
